What Can You Do with the Level 3 Award in Education and Training? Career Opportunities Explained

By Dom Hayward, posted
The Level 3 Award in Education and Training is the perfect starting point for anyone looking to pursue a career in teaching or training. Whether you are switching careers or looking to progress within an existing teaching or training role, this versatile qualification opens the door to a wide range of opportunities.  In this post we will explore the most popular and rewarding career paths learners often pursue upon completion of the level 3 AET.

First Aid Trainer

The most popular career path for learners undertaking this qualification with us here at Train Aid. Ideal for those who already have a background in healthcare, for example:  Paramedic, Nurse, or those learners new to the profession. Alongside the AET we would recommend undertaking one of our Emergency First Aid at Work courses and/or a Paediatric First Aid Course, to gain knowledge surrounding the topic.

Upon completion of the Level 3 AET, many candidates choose to set up their own First Aid company or work alongside a training provider. To ensure learners receive nationally recognised and accredited qualifications, we’d recommend joining the First Aid Industry Body (FAIB).

Adult Education Tutor

As an Adult Education Tutor, you could be teaching in a variety of settings, such as: community colleges, local authority programmes or private training centres.

The AET would provide you with the skills required to deliver short courses, workshops or longer programmes in any subject area you are qualified to teach.

Health Beauty Academy Teacher

Alongside the Level 3 AET, obtaining the Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing or Barbering will enable you to work within a beauty training academy. An additional career path could be to set up a training centre and become accredited with an awarding body such as BABCAC, Beauty Guild, VTCT.

If you go on to assess learners within an academy we recommend our CAVA assessing qualification.

Freelance Trainer

Teach any course/qualification which you hold yourself, for example: fitness, manual handling, leadership & management, health & social Care. The AET will equip you with the knowledge and qualification to join a number of training providers to deliver courses for corporate clients.  Alternatively, become a training manager within an organisation.

A Stepping Stone to further learning

To build on your teaching skills, deepen your knowledge and broaden your career opportunities, both our Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training (CET) and the Level 5 Diploma in Teaching (Further Education DIT) are excellent next steps.
