The one-day Emergency first aid course may not go into as much detail as its big brother/sister, First Aid at Work (3-day), but it certainly packs a punch and covers a lot of information in a short time.

First Aid at Work (3 Day)

The best thing about the First Aid at Work (3 Day) course is that you only have to attend for one classroom day. If it sounds too good to be true, then don't worry because the course is nationally recognised by both the First Aid Industry Body (FAIB) and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

Updated guidance from these bodies has allowed learners to complete 1/3 of the course in the classroom and 2/3 in e-learning. This means you can study at home or work most of the time without missing your own work schedule. We understand this is crucial, especially for many of our learners who are self-employed and for whom time is precious.

Emergency Paediatric First Aid (6 Hour)

Emergency Paediatric First Aid (6 Hour) is a popular option for local nannies, au pairs, babysitters and even schools. It’s a simple one-day course that covers the most common medical emergencies affecting infants and children. 

This course is suitable for both refreshers and those who are completing a paediatric first aid course for the very first time. The latest guidelines are taught in an easy-to-understand format, with a strong practical emphasis. Train Aid offers both Tuesday and Saturday classes for those pressed for time during the week.

Paediatric First Aid (12 Hour)

Paediatric First Aid (12-hour) is the gold standard paediatric first aid course in the UK. The reason is that it encompasses everything the emergency paediatric first aid covers and adds an extensive module on the recognition and management of childhood illnesses and injuries. Essentially, you will cover all first aid scenarios in a typical childcare environment.

The good news is that you only need to complete ½ of this qualification in the classroom, with the remaining time on an e-learning module. We understand that many of our paediatric first aid learners have to complete this qualification on Saturdays. Weekends are precious, and not having to attend two saturday’s can only be a benefit.

Our training centre is conveniently located at Central Church within the city centre. Unlike most city centre venues, we do have a car park on-site for those who have made a longer journey on the day and need a safe space to park. Anyone else can easily access the venue by public transport, or lock their bicycle up securely.

Central church or St Philip and St Jacob’s, as it is known, is considered to be the oldest church in Bristol. Our home within the church is in the courtyard room, which has a wall-mounted screen, carpeted floors, and is adjacent to the main kitchen area. 

In 1279, there was a scandal involving Peter de le Mare, the then constable of the Castle of Bristol. To cut a long story short, Peter de Le Mare had allowed a villain to seek refuge in the church, who stole all of its gold and silver. The villain was reprimanded, but the church, as a punishment for its infringments made Peter De la Mare build a stone cross in its grounds and feed 100 poor people on a certain day of each year!

By Car


Follow signs to the city centre from the M32, A37/38 and A4. From here, take the Temple Way / A4032 to Tower Hill, which will lead you to the entrance of the church.

Parking needs to be pre-booked to ensure a space is available, which is easy with the Just Park website/app. Parking is available for £3.30 per hour. Upon arrival, simply enter the code into the keypad and drive through the gate to an available space.

By Bus


Catch bus number 8 from Bristol Temple Meads Railway station, which runs every 12 minutes and takes around 6 minutes to reach the church. 

Alternatively, route 1 connects Cribbs Causeway with Broomhill, Clifton Down, and Temple Meads station. Or those preferring the metro bus can take routes m1, m2 and m3, which serve the city centre from both North and South Bristol. 

By Train 


Bristol Temple Meads railway station is roughly a 10-minute walk from the venue along the River Avon. The station serves routes from Cardiff, London, Birmingham and the South West. Making it a great choice for anyone who needs to make a longer journey on the day.

Anyone making a journey within Bristol can reach Temple Meads station via Bristol Parkway, Bedminster, Clifton Down, and Filton Abbey Wood. 

Accomodation

Premier Inn Bristol City Centre (Finzels Reach) hotel is less than a 5-minute walk from Central Church. The hotel has an on-site restaurant and free wi-fi. Parking is available off-site at NCP Bristol Broadmead.

Alternatively, Leonardo Hotel Bristol City is a four-minute walk from Central Church. The hotel has a restaurant, fitness centre, and bar on-site. Parking is available off-site at the Gardiners Haskins Car park on Unity Street.
