The new Level 5 Diploma in Teaching (RQF) is for trainee teachers looking to achieve full teacher status in the post 16 teaching sector. 
 
It is a traditional teacher training qualification, encouraging learners to reflect on their current teaching practice and develop their teaching skills.

About this course

The new Level 5 Diploma in Teaching provides teacher status in the post-16 and adult teaching sector.  
 
 The course consists of seven units:
1.   Teaching My Subject
2.   Learners and Learning
3.   Teachers and Teaching
4.   Professional Practice
5.   Effective Digital and Online Pedagogies
6.   Action Research
7.   Developing, Using and Organising Resources in a Specialist Area

Learners must produce a portfolio of evidence comprising written assessments and practical teaching evidence. 

They must log 150 hours of teaching practice in a minimum of two teaching locations. This could include teaching a different subject area or venue.

The Level 5 Diploma in Teaching is designed for those with teaching experience, looking to gain full teacher status in the post-16 sector. 
 
 This could be:
·         college lecturers 
·         teachers in sixth form schools
·         advanced trainers in the private training industry
·         experienced educators in the public or voluntary sectors

Many learners also apply for QTLS upon successful completion of this course, giving them parity and teacher status in secondary education.

We recommend one teaching day per month over fourteen months. This enables learners to complete assessments and lesson observations between each session and demonstrate progression.

The course can be delivered face to face  onsite or remotely using a virtual video classroom.
