The Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (RQF) is a nationally recognised teaching assistant qualification.

The course provides learners with the opportunity to develop the skills, knowledge, and understanding to work as a teaching assistant in schools or colleges.

About this course

The Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools is an Ofqual-regulated teaching assistant qualification. 

There are eleven mandatory units:
1) Communication and professional relationships with children, young people and adults
2) Schools as organisations
3) Understand child and young person development
4) Understand how to safeguard the wellbeing of children and your people
5) Develop professional relationships with children, young people and adults
6) Promote equality, diversity and inclusion in work with children and young people
7) Engage in personal development in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings
8) Promote Children and Young People’s Positive Behaviour
9) Support Children and Young People’s Health and Safety
10) Develop professional relationships with children, young people and adults
11) Support Assessment for Learning

The course is assessed via a practical portfolio of evidence that includes a reflective journal, teaching assistant handbook, written assessment, and case studies. 

Learners must also be observed live in their supporting role and carry out a summative professional discussion.

Why this course?

The Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools is designed to give you the skills to effectively support teaching in the classroom.

It builds on the four units covered on the Level 3 Award in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, although it is possible to enrol straight on to the Certificate. Those that have already achieved the Award can RPL those four units. 

It is designed for individuals who would like to work, or who currently work, in schools and colleges. The qualification is suitable for a range of support roles, including:
