Coach Core

Delivery of emergency first aid training to Coach Core at their London HeadQuarters

The Brief

The Brief

Coach Core helps 16-24 year olds who have found themselves out of education / work. They do this by providing innovative sports apprenticeships which in turn help these young people find a career within sports. The transformational apprenticeships teach a wide variety of skills that can be used to plan and deliver sport sessions within local communities.

Coach Core has a dedicated team of hard working individuals who oversee the sports apprenticeships across the country. It is important as part of their roles that they are first aid qualified for both the office environment and whilst on duties arranging the apprenticeships.

The Solution

Train Aid liaised with Coach Core’s CEO Gary Laybourne about renewing the teams first aid qualifications. Learners by renewing their qualification get updated on any regulatory changes and get another chance to practise their life saving skills.

The office team assigned lead first aid trainer Graham to the course due to his past sporting experiences and enthusiasm for the subject area. Graham was pre-briefed about the type of learners to expect and how to adapt the course for their needs.

Once a date was set and arrangements had taken place, the team was ready for their course to begin…

The Result

The emergency first aid refresher training  contained a mixture of Coach Core staff who already held the qualification and those new to the organisation or who were unavailable for the previous training. The course is suitable for both groups because it repeats itself to reinforce the learning process. New learners were allowed extra time and asked Graham any questions.

The training day itself whizzed by under the backdrop of the spectacular Kia Oval where Coach Core have their London offices. The team really made the most of the day, with plenty of smiles, biscuits and enthusiasm to get involved in all of the practical activities.

The team took the opportunity to have a day off from their usual working commitments and helped each other in the various group activities and practicals with the training manikins. The day concluded with a practical recap, multiple choice questions and a team photo (which even included Train Aid’s Graham).

Train Aid look forward to re-visiting Coach Core for the renewal of their qualifications in three years time.
