How To Guide - How to treat minor burns

By Bill, posted

A burn to the skin can be very sore and painful and should be treated immediately so here's our little guide on what to do:

. If possible remove the source of the burn

. Run the affected area under cold running water for a minimum of 10 minutes.

. Remove any restrictive clothing or jewellery as swelling may occur

. If the burn is over a large surface area, has burnt through the upper two layers of skin or is on a young child seek medical assistance.

And now for a few Do Not's:

. Do not remove anything that has stuck to the burnt skin.

. Do not use any lotions or creams on the burnt area.

. If the skin blisters then do not burst it.

. Do not use any adhesive dressings
