Who is the awarding body? Highfield qualifications.

Is it an accredited course? Yes, it is an Ofqual regulated qualification (RQF), a fully accredited course.

Who is the qualification for?
Anyone working in a teaching or training role and has access to 30 teaching hours.

Is it recognised outside of the UK? It is a. UK based qualification, however UK qualifications are highly sought-after internationally

Does the qualification expire? No, the qualification is yours for life and does not need to be renewed once achieved.

How many guided learning hours? 140 guided learning hours (GLH).

How long does the average learner take to complete the qualification?  The average learner takes between 5-6 months to complete the course.

What are the course units? 6 written units to the course (suggested word count 3-4000 words per assignment). However there is no official word count, including 4 references.

What are the course credits? 36.

Does the course carry any UCAS points? The course does not carry any UCAS points, but supplements any university degree.

Can any units be RPL’d? Yes, if you achieved the L3 AET course you do not need to complete unit 1.

Can I use my own organisation's templates? Yes, you can use your own organisation’s templates such as lesson plans, schemes of work and observation forms.

Can I teach 1-1 lessons and will these count towards the 30 hours of teaching evidence? No, you must be teaching to groups or classes of learners.

Who can observe me for the 3 observations? A teacher with a minimum of a level 4 teaching qualification or higher can observe you. You will need to send a copy of the certificate to Train Aid when you register for the course.

Are the observations graded? No, the observations are developmental and can be completed on the Train Aid observation form or own organisation template.

Can Train Aid observe my lessons? Train Aid can observe a recorded lesson, or a live lesson over Zoom / MS teams for £60 Inc VAT.

Are there any additional fees if my assignments do not meet the standards? There are no additional fees, the marking team will provide you with supportive feedback.

What support will I have available? Support available over the phone / email. Office hours Monday - Thursday (9 AM - 5 PM). Friday (9 AM - 4 PM).

Marking team work too 5 working days.

What resources will I receive? You will receive a copy of the Ann Gravells textbook, assignment support video guides, assignment structure documents and videos.

What are the entry requirements? That you have access to 30 teaching hours and can be observed 3 times by a qualified teacher.

Can I get funding for this course? No, however we offer flexible payment plans to support our learners.

How soon does my certificate arrive? 10 working days after the teaching portfolio has been moderated. Electronic (pdf) certificate.

Can I use my hours from a number of teaching establishments? Yes - you can use a variety of teaching hours if you teach at different organisations.

What can I teach after the level 4 Certificate in Education & Training? Any course or qualification that you hold yourself.

What career opportunities are available after the Level 4 CET course? There are many career opportunities: College / Post 16 teacher (part / full time), In-house trainer, Training company manager, cover supervisor.

Can I apply for QTLS with this qualification? No, you will need to gain the L5 DET teaching course.

What qualifications do I need to begin the Level 4 CET course? You do not need any previous qualifications, basic IT skills are an advantage for the assignments and lesson planning. You do not need a degree for the Level 4 course.

Do I need level 2 in literacy and numeracy? You do not need level 2 in literacy and numeracy, but you may wish to gain these qualifications after the course.

Can I deliver my own courses with this qualification and offer certificates? You can, however you will need to gain the Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA) in order to issue accredited course certificates.

Course progression areas? Level 5 Diploma in Education & Training.

Can any level 4 teaching evidence be used towards the L5 DET course? Yes, you can transfer: 2 observations, 2 course units and 20 teaching hours towards the level 5 diploma course.

How long do you have to complete this course? As long as required / no expiry dates with the Level 4 Certificate in Education & Training.

Can you use this qualification within primary, secondary and the independent school sectors? It is a post 16 teaching qualification, however many candidates have gained this qualification to teach within their organisation and promote their confidence and skills when teaching lessons. Always check with the organisation you are applying to.

What teaching roles can I apply for? College / post 16 teacher roles, part or full time teacher, teaching assistant / cover supervisor roles. Check pay scales when applying for positions.
