What's involved?

There are no prerequisites to signing up. This is an introductory level course starting from scratch to help learners build up an understanding on the principles of safeguarding.

It is a classroom based course which will be taught by a friendly and approachable trainer who has a background in the subject area. The instructor will combine short lectures with group discussions and real life case studies.

The course delves into legislation and guidance procedures, whereby candidates learn how they identify and report abuse through correct policies and procedures.

By its conclusion candidates will have gained an understanding of what abuse is and learn the different categories it can fall into.

Candidates leave the course with a certificate valid for three years, highlighting that they have a sound understanding of this field. It also encourages employees to be more vigilant in day to day activities, without being intrusive. The knowledge base leads to the candidate successfully identifying different forms of abuse and being able to report it through the right channels.
