Would you feel confident performing CPR?

By Bill, posted

You may hear the words ‘Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation’ or ‘CPR’ and immediately think, “Scary!” We've all seen it on medical soap operas and maybe read articles about people giving CPR, but often that's as far as our knowledge goes.

80% of heart attack sufferers in the UK are not in hospital but with family, friends or members of the public. Only a quarter of members of the public asked, said they would feel confident to perform CPR. This statistic explains why the survival rate of heart attack victims is only 1 in 10, as often no aid is provided until paramedics arrive.

In response to this, the British Heart Foundation are pushing for CPR to be part of the school curriculum and to roll training out to all organisations and clubs so more people are prepared to help save a life.

A short 3 hour course really can be the difference between life and death.

Train Aid offer Basic Life Support courses, teaching basic skills needed to help save a life. More can be read about it here
