There can't be anything more important than the overall safety of staff members, customers and anyone who visits the work environment.

The portfolio of Health & Safety Courses is aimed at anyone who wishes to make the workplace a safer place. This is achieved through introductory, foundation and advanced stage courses. All of them are designed to give staff members more confidence to implement health and safety procedures within their own particular work environment.

Todays blog gives you the opportunity to see which course may be suitable for you and your employees. Each level below is simplified and will tell you what to expect out of it.

Principles of Health and Safety in the Workplace

This Level one Course is nationally accredited to the QCF framework. It can help learners address the following topics areas:

  • legislation, 
  • fire procedures
  • chemical safety
  • manual handling
  • personal protective equipment

The course has a guided four hours of learning and is assessed via a 15 question multiple choice exam.

This award is useful for new members starting out, or groups of current staff members who need to grasp a basic understanding of the subject area.

Retail, Catering, Manufacturers and Carers

The level one course can also be tailored to specific industries such as the Retail, Catering, Manufacturing and Care industries. These courses are non accredited but may be more desirable for companies who are looking to tailor the qualification to the specific needs of their workplace.

Caterers can expect to learn more about the kitchen, retail on dealing with customers and the care industry on the moving and handling of people. These are only a few examples of how the course is tailored to each individual workplace.

Level 2

The level 2 qualification builds on the principles of level 1 by encouraging learners to think about how they themselves can make the workplace a safer place. It looks further into the individual and team role of addressing health and safety issues within the workplace. Topics covered include:

  • Roles and responsibilities of Health & Safety in the workplace
  • Risk Assessments
  • Identifying and controlling risks
  • Responding to accidents and incidents

Level 3

The level 3 qualification is aimed at those who are in a supervisory / managerial role. The qualification enables learners to gain sound knowledge and health & safety law, hazards within the workplace and how to implement effective and necessary controls.

The course is assessed through a 2 hour 60 question multiple choice exam and is completed over several days or via distance learning.

All of the above qualifications are available in both English and Polish.
